Updating Content for Accessibility CELT Canvas Course

This course is designed to help University of Kentucky faculty and staff update their digital content for accessibility and meet new requirements set forth in Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

In addition to complying with federal regulations, making digital course content accessible improves learning opportunities for all students. The topics in this course represent common issues for accessibility as well as starting places for continuous reflection and improvement in teaching.

Step 1: Find Your Ally Course Accessibility Report

Open your Canvas course and look for Ally Course Accessibility Report in your navigation menu. For step-by-step directions and screenshots, visit the CELT Accessibility Course.

 

Step 2: Find Your Top 3 Accessibility Issues

When your Ally Course Accessibility Report opens up, scroll to the bottom and look for a section called Remaining issues. The first three issues listed are your top 3 accessibility issues.

 

Step 3: Start With Your Top Accessibility Issue

Start by focusing on the top accessibility issue identified in your Ally Course Accessibility Report. Visit the modules page in the CELT Accessibility Course to learn more about your top accessibility issue.

Step 4: Begin Fixing Your Top Accessibility Issues

Use the step-by-step instructions in the CELT Accessibility Course -or- the Ally tools embedded in your Canvas course to begin fixing the top accessibility issues in your course.

Step 5: Move On To Your Next Accessibility Issue

Once you’ve corrected most of your top accessibility issues, move to your second accessibility issue, according to your Ally Course Accessibility Report. You should start to see your Ally Course Accessibility Report score change as you continue fixing issues.
